Gamification Simulator is a persuasive game that critiques gamification as a form of surveillance. By simulating a gamified workplace, the game exposes players to the mundane reality of tasks that are superficially gamified, challenging the notion that adding feedback systems to work makes it inherently like a game. The  mechanics and narrative were constructed to reflect the governance and behavioral manipulation that can occur in real-world gamified systems, inviting players to question the true nature of their engagement. The game also enables the player to engage in counter-gamification strategies, offering a perspective on how individuals might resist surveillance through gamification. The game is used as a heterotopic space that uses counter-gamification strategies such as exposing game mechanics and overidentification and facilitates de-gamification and desertion.
